'Oklahoma' cultivar of Eastern redbud would be more desirable than the straight species as it tolerates the heat better and has better leaf color/retention in late summer.
I would caution against using all of one species for the main street trees in case of issues such as disease. Consider using another species on one street, or alternating species along the streets.
