AMBERLEIGH SHORES PHASE 2 [TRC Plan Review#2] NCDOT: • Thank you for providing the Traffic Control Plan. TECHNICAL STANDARDS- ACCESS (driveway, sidewalk, and sight distance): 1. The use of Speed Humps on City Streets must be approved prior to installation. Please provide documentation for the approval of the 4 speed humps on Avery Drive. If Avery Drive is a private street, not open for public maintenance, please show the street as “Private”. 2. The proposed 14’ travel lanes at the entrance gate shall not interfere with Fire and Rescue Vehicle Access. Please confirm travel lane widths with WFD. 3. Avery Drive appears to have reduced Street Corner Radius. Provide standard street corner radius with the subdivision streets. R35’ is the minimum. A Variance may be requested for the street corner radius. TECHNICAL STANDARDS- PARKING: 4. Please provide street names on the landscape plans. Current sheets use ‘Road A’ and ‘Road B’. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance as this development moves through the review process.

AMBERLEIGH SHORES PHASE II [TRC Plan Review #2] TECHNICAL STANDARDS – NEW ROADS: 1. All private streets shall be designed and constructed to meet or exceed the public street standards as specified by the [city's] Technical Standards and Specifications Manual. [Sec.18-378 (d) CofW LDC] 2. Mandatory movement sign ‘Right only’ (R3-5R `) sign is shown (sheet T-1.1) at the egress on to Market St. A ‘No Left Turn’ sign (R3-2) will not be required and shall not be installed. [MUTCD] 3. Avery Dr is proposed to be right-in/right-out design on the site plan. A pork chop island/median and additional centerline pavement markings may be required to restrict the ingress/egress vehicular movement [NCDOT/City standards]. In such instance an additional traffic lane control signage may be required to be installed on the median. [MUTCD] TECHNICAL STANDARDS – ACCESS (driveway, sidewalk, and sight distance): 4. Show and apply the City’s 20’x70’ sight distance triangle at each driveway and the City’s 46’x46’ sight distance triangle at each street corner intersection (Avery Dr) on the site plan and landscaping plan. Replace the 20’x70’ sight distance triangle with the City’s 46’x46’ sight distance triangle at the intersection of Avery Dr and Market St [Sec.18-529(c)(3)CofW LDC]. The comment to show 20’x70’ sight distance triangle was provided as it was a driveway in previous version and now it is proposed as a street. Add a note indicating that all proposed vegetation within sight triangles shall not interfere with clear visual sight lines from 30"-10'. [Sec.18-556 CofW LDC] [Sec. 18-812 CofW LDC] 5. A stop sign and bar shall be installed at all the street type driveways off Avery Dr. 6. Where the crosswalks are provided at the driveways, stop sign/stop bar must be installed in advance of nearest crosswalk line. [MUTCD] TECHNICAL STANDARDS – Barrier Free Design: 7. Please provide the handicap ramp at the end of each sidewalk throughout the site. Show the graphics for the detectable warning domes (at the crosswalk connections). 8. Site plan shows the location of handicap ramps for the accessible aisles. Show the graphics for the detectable warning domes.
